Thrilling true life story of a young boy who accidentally transported thousands of miles away from his family in India and subsequently adopted by an Australian couple, taken away from his Indian birthplace. In some respects film feel like two separate narratives; but this chime with what happening in the film where our protagonist Saroo has two very different chapters in his life; the poor but enriching formative childhood years in India and then his second prosperous life in white Australia. What so striking about the film for me was the true life aspect which completely compelling. Young Saroo (Sunny Pawar) the real star of the show giving an even more convincing performance than his older-self played by Dev Patel. The ending of the film where we come full circle and Saroo re-united with his mother perhaps the most touching moment; reinforced by the additional use of real life archive.
