Moonlight

Shining second feature from Medicine for Melancholy Director Barry Jenkins. We taken into the life of young Terrel 'Blacks' who without friends and the subject of bullying for his effeminate ways. To make matters worse he the charge of a drug addicted, abusive mother. His hero and unlikely rescuer a local streetwise drug dealer. Film beautiful for how it present situations and scenarios in a completely non-judgemental way. Terrel's chance first-time sexual encounter with another classmate one of the most poignant scenes in the film. Both characters vulnerabilities laid bare exposing two young men who simply want an emotional connection ; and this the underlying strength of the film its reveal of the human need for deep and enduring connections.
