The Wound

A beautiful, simple well told film which was stunning in its originality. The location and activity of the story was set within ceremonial ritual in rural South Africa was key to various plot twists and turns. Audience really pushed into various corners of the narrative where different versions of manhood were presented. Story in essence wrapped in culture and this its fundamental strength. It was so well told I barely questioned what was happening. Universal themes such as old versus young, rich versus poor, tradition versus modernity laid bare. Classic and rare African LGBT+ film.
